4 crucial bible verses that some people seem to routinely forget.

Now this may just be the media twisting things (you know, like they do) but I have heard a lot of stereotyping of Christians so I decided to do this blog on the top 5 verses that a few (certainly not, and probably not even close to, all) people seem to forget (in no particular order). I'll probably add more as I think them up.Now I must be clear here, I am not trying to stereotype anybody here. If nothing else, think of this as verses to life your life by (if everyone did this world would be awesome)

1. Matthew 7 verse 1: "Judge not lest ye be judged.

Of all of the ones that people should remember (Christian or not) it should be this one. Now am I breaking this verse by even writing this blog? I hope not it's not what I'm intending to do. Just saying. But I mean really, we all are total sinners so why on Earth do we think that we have any right to judge others for their sins. Only Jesus can do that and last I checked, Jesus hasn't made his second coming yet.

Yes this sign was clearly made by Jesus, one of the most tolerant and loving persons who ever lived. This is pretty hateful to have come from him

This verse directly connects with...

2. James 2 verse 10: For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

This one directly connects with the first one. This is basically saying that no one sin is greater than another. Ever sin is equally bad in God's eyes. So, anybody who thinks that Homosexuality is a sin (and I know this is touchy but it is) needs to remember that in God's eyes, it isn't better or worse than say, lying or gossip. So readers, the next time you  want to bash someone for being homosexual, remember that you aren't better than that person.

God also doesn't like judgmental people who ignore a lot of his basic teachings, such as loving your neighbor.

3. Matthew 24 verse 36: No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

I'd like to show you some images if you don't mind.

I could go on, but the verse specifically says that no one is going to know until it happens. So, if I were you, I would join the "day after December 21 2012" Facebook group. If Jesus doesn't know when it's coming, some dude looking for codes in the Bible about the end times certainly isn't going to figure it out.

4. Romans 3 verse 23: For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. You'd think this would be easy to remember but it doesn't seem to be. Those hateful people out there in the pictures above need to remember this one.

  1. Ironically enough, I stumbled upon this blog when trying to find a specific scripture that states no sin is bigger than another, to share with a homophobic man during a debate. I am a lesbian, but I am also a Christian. I get so very tired of people forgetting that I am a whosoever as well.

    1. I am NOT judging you, but I do have a question. If homosexuality is clearly written in the Bible as a sin,in the old and new testament, how can you as a Christian believe it's ok? I sincerely want to understand your point of view.

    2. This is an old post to Anon, homosexuality is NOT clearly written in the Bible as a sin. In the old testament, it was an issue, but so was eating pork and a thousand other things that we were 'released' from with the Messiah. In the NT, homosexuality was never referenced. In fact, the Greeks didn't even have a word for it. And the most important thing to remember that Jesus specifically never said anything about it, nor anything that could even be translated to it. So saying that the Bible condemns homosexuality, based on the literal translation, is wholly wrong.

    3. Whether if it is the old testament or new testament it's in the bible. 2Timothy2:16 states; All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in Righteousness.

Clearly its an issue all the way around because adultery, murder, theft, etc is stated clearly and was spoken of Not to do such and people still do it and think its ok.

    5. Nothing in the bible is clearly written AND In our limited conscious, not much can be clearly understood. The King James bible was translated from an English bible that was translated from a Greek bible which was translated and compiled from many different periods in history, many other languages including syraic, amharic, hebrew etc. People with no etymology training will never go beyond the limit of their own language. There's a reason banks are closed om Sundays - if they were open, no one would go to church. They'd spend their money on other shit. Paul of Tarsus never knew Jesus yet he was primarily responsible for the spread of Christianity into the Greek and Roman world. Know your history, do your research, stop listening to your shepherds in the money pulPITS

    6. I was actually looking up some of these bible verses to support an arguement for gays. I am a Chirstan and engaged to a God fearing man, and we support gays.

    7. The point of this entire article was to say that we need to love one another and remember that not only is being gay a sin but also not loving your neighbor and lying and gossiping and JUDGING. leave it up to God whether being gay is right or wrong. As Christians it is our jobs to lead people to the cross not to condemn people for being "sinners" as if we aren't sinners as well. Being Christian does not automatically make us perfect people, it makes us forgiven. Stop running around as though you are perfect human beings condemning those who are gay as if that is only sin to make. Love before you judge.

    8. That's why the Lord stresses that we all humble ourselves under His holy Words. Because we all sin we should watch what we say and/or do! Sin is sin and no one has the right to judge another, for to judge another is to condemn oneself.

  2. The Bible also states eating certain animals, sex outside of marriage, adultery and many other things are sins an abominations. Yet you only turn to the Bible to denounce the things you don't care for. You can point out the Bible denounces these things but you probably can't even recall the 10 commandments. Read Leviticus and then tell me if how someone else lives their life should be your concern.

  3. To answer the question from anonymous. Yes is is clearly stated in the bible that being gay is a sin. As a gay it is not something you want to act on but you have no control. God works in His time not man's. Just cause I sin doesn't mean I don't love God and want to serve Him. Just means my relationship with God is growing and the closer I get the more my heart will change. After all if I am completely focused on Hod how can I be focused on the world.

  4. Many people do not have the full understanding of John 2:10 or even an understanding of it at all. The verse simply means that you can't pick and choose which sin you want to commit. You cant say that you're not a sinner just because you're a murderer and this person is an adulterer; both are breaking the commandments. Jesus said in John 19:11 that the one who handed Him over to Pilate is guilty of a GREATER sin. Also, 1 Corinthians 6:18 states that every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Proverbs 6:16-19 tells that there are 6 things the Lord hate and 7 that are an abomination to God (haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community). So yes, A sin is a sin, BUT not all sins are equal.

  5. To God no sin is greater than any other sin. James 2:10-11 "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. For He who said, "DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," also said, "DO NOT COMMIT MURDER." Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law". This leaves no room for interpretation. Whether being gay is a sin or not is, in my mind, irrelevant. What right do you have to condemn someone to hell for a choice they feel was born into them when others commit murder, adultery, eat shell fish, gossip, get divorced......SIN IS SIN. And NO MATTER what you may think, speaking out against the homosexuals in our community will not change the sins you have committed. We need to stop focusing on what everyone else is doing and start focusing on ourselves, what we are doing, and what is truly in our heart. In Leviticus 19:18 the Bible says "You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD". Do you think all of this hate based on sexual preference is honoring God's commandment to us? We judge others so cruelly and then put blinders on when we look into the mirror at ourselves. And QUIT trying to use the Bible as a tool to fuel your disdain for others. Use it to grow closer to God, to gain a better understanding of him. Use it for what it was intended for. It is a supplemental tool to help us in our studies NOT a weapon against our brothers/sisters. AND GAIN A PAIR. If you are going to use the Bible to fuel your misguided beliefs, have the balls to put your name to it. Stand up for what you believe in.

    1. 2Timothy 2:1-5 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in latter times done shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with an hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be recieved with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be recieved with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. Some people who profess to be christians their conscience has been seared with an hot iron. When you sin and you willfully sin. The bible says there is no more sacrifice for your sin. All sin is sin, but when your eyes have been opened to the truth. You should repent and turn away from that sin. The word of God tells us to be holy for he is holy. That's to live a holy lifestyle that's acceptable to God.2 Cor.5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. You have to be born again! John3:1-7 Nicodemus asked How can a man be born again. Can he enter a second time into his mothers womb, and be born? Jesus answered, verily , verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born

    2. I ran accross this post because I was looking for scriptural truth in "one sin is not greater than the next" it seems to be a common phrase but I couldnt find scripture to back it up. I looked up James 2:10 in my John MacArther commentary and this is what it says "The law of God is a series of detached injunctions but a basic unity that requires perfect love of Him and neighbors. Although all sins are not equally damaging or heinous, they all shatter that unity and render people transgressors." So paraphrased through my understanding; all sin sets us apart from God which makes is wrong. However, depending on the measure of damage it may not set us as apart from God as another type of sin. Also, when the Word says we will be "guilty of all" it was not in the sense of having violated every command, but in the sense of violating the Law's unity. One's transgression (sin) makes fulfilling the Law's most basic commands- to love God perfectly and love one's neighbor as oneself- impossible. I agree with my commentary. I will chose not to use the common misunderstood phrase of "one sin not being greater than the other" because the damage/ consequences/ reaping in what we sow, will definitely be greater based of the sin. Yet, not unforgivable!

    4. James 2:10-11 does not say "All Sins Are Equal" and nowhere else in the Bible do we see these words. We have learned to use the Bible unfairly to justify our many degrees of sinfulness in order to make ourselves feel better or to be accepted as normal.

  7. Im a Christian also.No sin is greater than another.None unforgivable except blasphepy against the Holy Spirit.I sin daily.I don't mean to become angry sometimes short with others.I smoke cigarettes. My sin is as bad as that of a murderer,a liar, etc.I am so blessed to feel that my God loves me enough to forgive.I will keep trying to be a better person and realize the things that I do right instead of wrong.I don't judge others.I pray, and rememeber who put the evil here, and try to let others know there is another route you can go to have peace on day.The Bible is a great book to read and study and how could ever deny, since so much has happened already.Myself Im excited when it is my time

  8. Remember jesus also said. Wen attacked turn the other cheek. He said let the weeda and wheat grow to gether. The good and the bad. Wen the time comes god will decide who to keep with him and who to burn. Be good. And do good unto others. If other people sin im pretty sure god has more authority to punish them and judge them than any of us.

  9. Who gives two craps what you all disagree on as to what sins are sins. The main "Christian" thing to do is SPREAD THE GOSPEL AND LEAD OTHERS INTO THE FAITH. This is honestly petty and un- "Godly" of you all. Who are you to decide what someone does and says, who they love and hate, no one but themselves will have to answer to "God" at the 'Pearly Gate'
Find something else to talk about... like bad parenting( oops that is 'Un-Godly ' too. Maybe just live your damn life yourself.

  15. Im a law major So I have a question for you when you are arrested by a cop the law says you are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, The police officer isn't judgeing you he makes you aware of the crime you are commiting by arresting you, then you are taken before a judge. Well in the same way we dont condem any one we are trying to open their eyes to the Laws of God they've broken, For the word says "MY PEOPLE WERE DESTROYED BECAUSE THEY LACKED KNOWLEDGE" I dont know what jesus you belive in but it is not the Jesus of the bible, in fact the message Jesus brought was "REPENT FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NEAR", infact if it wearnt for Jesus we wouldnt know about hell because he is the one who talks about it more than anyone, Jesus tell us to discern a synonym for discerning is to judge, Jesus isn't schizophrenic his word doesnt contradict so when you take Matthew 7 out of context like that please include 7:5 which say Hypocrite! First get rid of log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye. I can tell you know nothing about scripture

  16. Where in the bible does it say there's no greater sin than another??? That's something man made up. In fact, it's says he that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven and is guilty of eternal damnation. So in actuality this the the greatest sin, which means there are sins that are less. If homosexuality and lesbianism what's a greater sin than others there wouldn't be so much mention of it in the bible. I do believe there are greater sins than others to God, but through Jesus all can be forgiven.
